Volonte is a training application designed to facilitate the experience of lucid dreaming.

Lucid dreaming refers to the phenomenon where an individual becomes aware that they are dreaming while in the dream state. Such occurrences are relatively rare, primarily because individuals often lack the awareness that they are dreaming at that moment.

The reason for this lack of awareness during dreams can be attributed to the fact that the part of our consciousness responsible for rational thought is also inactive during sleep. Consequently, conscious thinking and deliberate actions cannot occur within dreams, leading to a predominance of unconscious manifestations, including ingrained beliefs and habits.

To foster the intention to become aware within dreams, it is crucial to develop this intention as a habit. The goal is to cultivate a mindset in which one regularly questions their state of consciousness—specifically by asking, "Am I dreaming right now?" This practice is known as a "reality check." Through consistent engagement in reality checks throughout daily life, individuals may begin to unconsciously pose this question while dreaming, thus gaining the awareness needed to realize they are in a dream.

Volonte serves as a tool to help make reality checks a habitual practice. The app leverages the vibration functionalities of the Apple Watch, allowing users to create personalized vibration patterns. By sending reminders at customized intervals, Volonte encourages users to integrate reality checks into their busy lives effectively, thereby increasing the likelihood of experiencing lucid dreams.
